Ramble #8

by White Feather

In a state of complete unconditionality there is no need for apologies because apologies are an expression of guilt for not having met a condition. That condition could be one that you placed on your self or it can be one you perceive others to hold. Exuberance is neither good nor bad. It is only our judgments of exuberance that create conditions, such as "too much exuberance is bad" or "people don't like that." If we hold those judgments/conditions then when we are exuberant we feel bad and we apologize for not meeting the conditions we set for ourselves. We apologize for doing "what people don't like" even though it is our perception that they don't like it. That perception is held in place by the conditions/beliefs we set forth for ourselves. If we embrace "too much exuberance is bad" long enough it becomes a belief and every time we apologize we reinforce that belief and become more stuck to it.

Expecting a reaction is also conditional. To express unconditionally it matters not what others appear to do or not do or say or how they react. If we write only with the condition that others like what we write then we most assuredly are not writing unconditionally, and we won't be writing from the heart, but rather from those conditions we hold. Writing and posting is metaphoric for how we live life and express ourselves. We all live conditionally but we're on a journey that is taking us to a state of unconditionality. Apologies are important because they highlight those conditions (sticky goo) that are impeding our movement into that state.
